Ash Wednesday

crossofashesAsh Wednesday will be marked with a Service of The Word and Distribution of Ashes at 10.00am, which the Juniors from Saint Helen’s School will join in, and a Mass with the celebration of the Word and distribution of Ashes at 7.00pm. (There will also be a service of Word and Ashes for the pupils in Cardinal Newman High School and a ‘ket’ service for the Infants in Saint Joseph’s School.) Ash Wednesday is a day of Fasting and Abstinence.

Each Friday of Lent Mass will be at 6.30am (followed by breakfast in the hall), and the Way of the Cross will be at 7.00pm, alternating between Saint Helen and Saint Catherine – we start this week here in Saint Helen’s church. Also: The Ecumenical Lenten lunches 12.00 every Friday – usually at Wesley – please check the list in the porch. Alternatively, there will be a Lent Lunch in the cornerstone (opposite the Cathedral) at 1.30pm each Friday of lent, with a 15 minute meditation from the Archbishop.
