Since the start of the pandemic St Helen’s has been running a book club. On the first or second Tuesday of every month (we haven’t missed one!) we meet up to discuss the previous month’s book and to select a new book for the month ahead. Whilst we started by discussing the books online we now meet up in the Community Hall. We have read quite a diverse range of books, including The Thursday Murder Club, Brooklyn, Under Milk Wood, Frankenstein, The Shadow of the Wind and, as of June 2023, around 30 other books. Generally speaking we either select from a theme (female authors of 20th century, biographies, myths, Welsh authors, etc) or come up with an eclectic mix and anyone is free to come up with a list that the rest of the group can select from.
The book club welcomes everyone. If you’d like to know more or would like to join, please check the events calendar on this website or get in touch via the form below.
